Universal has been planning to reboot its Universal Monsters characters in a shared universe for quite some time now. We now know that the studio plans to anchor their classic monsters in a series of interconnected action-adventure movies, not horror films. That’s the angle we knew the studio was planning with the new Mummy movie, to be directed by Alex Kurtzman.

When the Suicide Squad movie was first talked about, general consensus was that it was be a lower-tier filler type of film for DC to sandwich between Justice League chapters. A chance to expand on the DC Cinematic Universe, introducing some smaller characters with a mid-range price tag. Now though, if the rumors are true, there doesn’t seem to be anything pointing at them keeping the budget down on this one.

The third and final chapter of the The Hobbit trilogy may not garner an applause from all fanboys, but the final trailer shows Middle Earth in the throes of war – and it is glorious. If there’s any element this film touches on, is the logic of cause and effect, and truly what consequences one must accept when ushering forth a serious “change.”
Universal has now set a release date of April 21, 2017 for an untitled Monster Franchise Film that will open in theaters the year after The Mummy property revival. This new Classic Monster Cinematic Universe is being overseen under the guidance of Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan.

ABC put on a pretty awesome (yet albeit rushed and a bit too short for our tastes) Marvel Comics special. It gave newer fans of the comics/films/TV juggernaut a sixty-minute look into the humble beginnings and current-day run of Marvel.
