The 1980s aren’t exactly what you would call a ‘Golden Era’ in Horror Cinema. In fact, it wouldn’t be totally unfair to call it the decade that killed entire genre’s reputation. The 1970s gave us some of the scariest films ever made. Then the 80s followed, filled with cheaply made films and unimaginative sequels fueled by a new Direct-to-Video market that made said movies profitable. Few movies exemplify this formula better than Sleepaway Camp.

Around here, regular readers will most likely know the affinity I have towards the Film Noir genre and shows like Femme Fatales. Well, for me the best of said genre is the classic P.I. stories, and even modernized versions like we saw in the 80s with Moonlighting and more recently with Veronica Mars.

#13 – Countdown to Halloween: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

In 2007, Paranormal Activity released in theaters. I saw this movie in the theater, and I loved it instantly. The realism of the movie was what attracted me. I love shows like “Ghost Hunters”. I have always believed in the Paranormal, and I get sucked into anything that revolves around the supernatural.

RECAP: In this episode, there is a website “Eaves Dropper” that all of the kids are following. It shows all of its viewers all of the gossip about the students at the elementary school.

 One of the students, Pete, “shit his pants in front of everyone”, and Cartman is spreading the rumor, assisted by the Eaves Dropper website. The staff believes that Pete might kill himself, because of the situation that happened to another student a year ago. They offer him a deal. If Pete doesn’t kill himself, they will make it worth his while.He puts laxatives in cupcakes and offers one to a little girl. She eats it, craps her pants, and then tries to kill herself by jumping off the roof.They then come up with a new plan. A pizza party will feature laxative-filled Pizza Hut…. with Arby’s Horsey sauce.

The Best of the Genre (By Decade): Top 30 “70s Horror Movies”

This is to be the 4th piece of the series here at Grizzly Bomb. For each feature we will examine an individual genre and the quality of its films produced within a specific decade, like, for example – the 25 Best Action Movies of the 90s, the 25 Best Comedies of the 80s, or The 30 Best Sci-Fi Movies from 2000-2009.
