It’s been a little while since I visited this web series, and my life has definitely been lacking some Avengers humor. So it’s only fair that to make up for that I will be bringing you three episodes this post! Three!
And no, I’m not doing that because Season 2 starts today and I want to catch up. Really. Mostly.
Continue reading Avengers Assemble: The Series – Episodes 3, 4 and 5
When I first saw news of this I was a little disappointed. My whole thinking was that if they had at least a twelve episode season 2 of the show then they could have put a little more of book 3/season 3 into the tail end, that way season 3 wouldn’t have to be cut short, but it was not to be. Check out what the show runners had to say from IGN below:
[box_light]The execs said, “If we could do 12 episodes, we would,” but that the creators of the show couldn’t “physically make more than 10” given the show’s scope, size and cost without either having there be more than a year-long delay between seasons or the quality being diluted. Game of Thrones was renewed while Season 1 was airing, long after it had wrapped production. It will be interesting to see if Season 3 (and beyond) get earlier renewals, giving the team more time to work – and perhaps allow for longer seasons.[/box_light]
Apparently to us simpletons there is far more that goes into a one hour episode of A Game of Thrones than we think, which is understandable because I’ll guarantee there is. At this point I’m more worried about season 3, since A Storm of Swords was 1,128 pages long and seemed like there was a lot more going on in the story than there was in book 2. Season 3 will undoubtedly be the best season yet if it’s done right. And by done right I mean they can’t be cutting out a whole bunch of stuff. I hope the show runs to completion on all of the books, even though George R.R. Martin is still writing away at them. They also touched on that at IGN:
[box_light]With Season 1 such a big success, HBO clearly has a lot of enthusiasm about Game of Thrones, and at one point during the Q&A today the execs said, “We told George [R.R. Martin] we’d go as long as he kept writing.” Of course that’s not an official commitment to pick up the series for years, and Lombardo admitted, “It would be wonderful to say ‘this show will go on for ten years and include [every aspect] of the books,” but I don’t know if that will be the case.”
Still, they are clearly hopeful for the show to go the distance, given the fandom so far, noting it was new for them. At one point, the execs remarked, “People have been watching casting on this show in a way we’ve never experienced before.”[/box_light]
I think with more and more fans spreading the word that Game of Thrones will remain the ratings monster that it has been for HBO. Hopefully this means that certain scenes will still look good due to budgeting and we’ll get to see the whole story play out. If not then I suppose we still have George Martin’s excellent books to read.
After watching Femme Fatales on Cinemax, I’ve been thinking a lot about Tales from the Crypt, and how awesome it was. Femme Fatales is just like Tales from the Crypt, except it’s not so much horror stories, and there are tons of hot chicks. Like the ‘beyond hot’ hostess Lilith (Tanit Phoenix), who provides the opening and closing monologue, as did the crypt keeper. It’s a great format.
This is the fourth Fear Itself tie-in that I’ve bought since the Marvel event started, and I think it was probably my favorite. Now mind you – just because it was my favorite doesn’t mean the tie-ins or the core series of Fear Itself is all that good. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Fear Itself series when it started, but now it seems like it’s getting too impersonal and the heroes are still running around like idiots with no idea what is going on. It seemed at the end of the last issue that they were finally getting mobilized to strike back. And it also seems like the Worthy were just brought into the fray to give the heroes something to do in the tie-in comics. Which is fine in this case, because the Juggernaut is an old acquaintance of theirs.
So of course the Juggernaut, in his ‘Worthy’ form of The Breaker of Stone, picks San Francisco to trash and start raising anti-mutant sentiment. The X-Men decide to intervene and use the basic anti-Juggernaut tactic: Remove that silly ass helmet of his and have a telepath shut his mind down. This works up until the telepath shutting his mind down part, where not even Emma Frost able to accomplish this. After defeating Hope Summers, a helmet-less Juggernaut trudges on… to go wreck some more shit.
I’ll be giving this issue a 4 out of 5 bears. It was exactly what you would expect out a tie-in to a major event. Plenty of action and more action. Greg Land’s always brilliant art helped push the rating up though I have to admit.
I’m actually wanting to get the next issue to see if the X-Men can stop the even more unstoppable Juggernaut. Is it even possible to be more unstoppable?
If there were any doubts tumbling through your brain about whether or not Rise of the Planet of the Apes was going to be good or not, then this little teaser-trailer from Comic-Con should erase all of it…. the doubt, not your brain. It may show quite a bit more than you’d like, but it’s not that big of a spoiler about whether the apes rebel or not. They do.
The trailer was actually a little creepy at times, especially the ruthlessness at the very end of it. But that’s to be expected when any exotic animal rises up against mankind and takes up arms against him. Could you imagine Rise of the Planet of the Dogs? Man’s best friend turns against him. You may want to check into that Hollywood. Anyways, check out the trailer below:
See? Absolutely riveting. I have to see this movie when it comes out! The sequels would be even better so this thing better perform at the box office to the max!
It was bound to happen by the grace of God, we have the red band trailer for Kevin Smith’s movie Red State. We all know that Kevin Smith movies are practically meant for a redband trailer (cue the Jersey Girl needs a red band trailer to hide its stench from the general public jokes), but this seems to be a great use of it.
