The Hunger Games – MTV’s Sneak Peak…

Early in June we told you about the upcoming movie The Hunger Games. At that time there wasn’t yet any footage, but last night MTV aired a teaser clip at their shitty awards show. Here it is:

I didn’t read the books, so to me this just looks like a girl running though the woods. Granted, that girl is Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men; First Class), but still not a lot going on…

Fan Made Poster….

Spirit of Vengeance Trailer: Ghost Rider Rides Again! And Pees!

Lets be honest about the first Ghost Rider movie not being very good. It failed me in almost every way. Sure Ghost Rider looked cool, but the story was weak, the villain was weak and Nic Cage was super weak. But hopefully all of that will change with the upcoming sequel that’s not a sequel called Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now personally, I thought this is the type of movie that could have went straight to DVD but Hollywood has other plans. Ghost Rider has a new look in this one, his skull visage still aflame but completely charred black. He looks a lot more no nonsense as he thrashes bad guys with his chains even while they’re driving and spits bullets into their faces. That sounds terrible but just watch the trailer to see:

As you can see this one seems to be a bit more violent, which is good because there isn’t anything too cuddly and nice when it comes to Ghost Rider. For me he’s like the Punisher in supernatural mode. The part at the end with him peeing fire kind of killed it for me but I’ll still be at the theater checking it out when the time comes.

New Creepy Trailer – The Woman in Black (Starring Daniel Radcliffe)

I can’t tell whether I want to see this movie because it looks legitimately good, or if it’s to see if Daniel Radcliffe can have a career after his decade long stint as Harry Potter. I think he can if he just doesn’t wear glasses again. Ever. There’s not an opportunity to really see him acting in this trailer, but he sure does a good job looking horrified….not that it counts for much.

Here’s a short plot description from the Jane Goldman written script:

Young lawyer Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) leaves his son in London to settle the legal affairs of the recently deceased Alice Drablow. He discovers a series of inexplicable accidents and suicides have forced the parents of her village to barricade their children indoors, as if protecting them from an unseen foe. When Arthur stays the night all alone at the Drablow’s foreboding house, he hears the screams of a drowning child and sees decaying children listlessly wandering the marshes. He will soon discover these haunting figures share the same date of death, and the same killer.

Sounds pretty jacked up. But watch the trailer to get a real tingling down your spine:

Yeah, I hate that effin’ monkey with the maracas. He can go to hell. But this movie looks like it’s worth a watch. The movies have been saturated with a plethora of ghost/haunting movies since The Sixth Sense, and the majority have sucked it pretty hard. So let’s find out if the adaptation of Susan Hill’s 1983 novel of the same name is any good come 2012.

Trailer Review: Attack the Block (Official and Red Band)

Attack the Block. Like Stomp the Yard? Verb the Noun!

“It’s inner city versus outer space.”

I’ve got to say I’m not sure about this one.  Seeing as it is from the producers of Shaun of the Dead (which I love) and Scott Pilgrim Vs.  the World (which I don’t hate) this flick could have some potential. Here’s the basic plot from IMDB:

A teen gang in South London defend their block from an alien invasion.

Sounds complicated. Here is the first of the 2 trailers.

As per usual, here is a movie of the times. Like Shaun of the Dead which was timed perfectly with at the beginning (you could argue was a catalyst toward) an entertainment zombie boom, Attack the Block is poised to ride the wave of movies that are focusing on Aliens invading, and kids coming together for the adventure (Super 8). However, the Alien invasion movies have not really been catching much steam like the zombie infestation.

Movie Trailer: The Darkest Hour (Aliens! Invading! And Killing Humans!)

People have to be on alien overload right now! Falling Skies on TNT, Cowboys and Aliens, Attack the Block, Skyline and Battle: LA are the most recent alien invasion movies to hit the screens. Out of all of those movies I truly only enjoyed Battle: LA. Attack the Block I have yet to see, but I’ve heard it is most excellent. I would say that the Darkest Hour was just another alien invasion flick but it does look to have it’s own identity in the form of the alien’s appearance.

Check out the trailer starring Emile Hirsch whom I haven’t since in a movie since the puke-fest that was Speed Racer:

Sure it’s another alien invasion flick, but the part that intrigues me is that the aliens are energy based lifeforms. How the hell do you fight something like that? It looked a little ridiculous with them having some sort of alien zapper guns, but I’m interested in seeing how humans could fight aliens that you can only see when they are around electronics.

Alien-Vision!

They actually reminded me of the phantoms in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in terms of detecting their presence. We’ll see if the movie is at least decent come December, but I’m not holding out much hope. I think it will still be better than the oft delayed Apollo 18

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: Another AWESOME Trailer

If there were any doubts tumbling through your brain about whether or not Rise of the Planet of the Apes was going to be good or not, then this little teaser-trailer from Comic-Con should erase all of it…. the doubt, not your brain. It may show quite a bit more than you’d like, but it’s not that big of a spoiler about whether the apes rebel or not. They do.

The trailer was actually a little creepy at times, especially the ruthlessness at the very end of it. But that’s to be expected when any exotic animal rises up against mankind and takes up arms against him. Could you imagine Rise of the Planet of the Dogs? Man’s best friend turns against him. You may want to check into that Hollywood. Anyways, check out the trailer below:

See? Absolutely riveting. I have to see this movie when it comes out! The sequels would be even better so this thing better perform at the box office to the max!
