Spider-Man Officially Joins The Marvel Cinematic Universe, First Solo Film in 2017!

We’ve heard numerous plans and rumors about Spider-Man over the past few months, starting with the many different directions Sony planned to take the Spidey universe over the next few years. Eventually those rumors shifted to discussion of Spidey’s return to Marvel, following the under performance of their rebooted Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Fans collectively grew more excited following the Sony leak, which revealed possible discussions between Sony and Marvel about bringing the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Those discussions were quickly hushed, and Sony’s potential spin-offs Sinister Six and Venom were teased again. Finally, the official confirmation came that Spider-Man will in fact be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has been playing catch-up with Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, plus the four Netflix series currently in development (You didn’t miss the first Daredevil trailer, did you?), but DC still holds the advantage. Especially with news of the most recent adaptation in development.

Now TNT is producing a live action adaptation of the Teen Titans simply titled Titans, with Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes acting as writers and executive producers of the series (or at least the pilot). The team have had a place in the animated world for years, with two related Teen Titans series, as well as the fan favorite Young Justice series that also focused on the sidekicks of the DC Universe.

Frank Miller and Scott Snyder Discussing a New Dark Knight Sequel

There are a few iconic Batman stories that die-hard fans are quick to share with new and old fans alike, but one story stands above the rest as one that not only changed the face of Batman in the decades to follow, but also the rest of the comic industry. The Dark Knight Returns took a dark look at the future of Gotham City, as a retired Bruce Wayne once again dons the cape and cowl, along with a new partner and a renewed fight against crime. While TDKR is never far from any dedicated fans comic shelf, the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has brought TDKR back into the forefront, with many of the themes and scenes from the comic set to appear in the film.
