“Transformers 4” Adds to Marky Mark’s Funky Bunch Cast

It looks like Marky Mark has his sidekick to join him and his new funky bunch, also known as the Transformers. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jack Reynor has been cast as the new lead alongside Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4, directed by Michael “There’s No Such Thing as a Stationary Camera Shot” Bay. Reynor is fairly new to United States shores as his only major Hollywood release is the new Vince Vaughn comedy Delivery Man, which is due out later this year.

Jack Reynor

The Transformers franchise is undergoing a casting overhaul as none of the principles from the previous movies are returning as this is a new chapter in the saga. They are still looking to cast the daughter of Mark Wahlberg, and have already undergone screen tests in order to find the Megan Fox/Rosie Huntington-Whiteley replacement. Supposedly Reynor will play the boyfriend in this story, as it will take place four years after the “Chicago War” that played out in the third movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Michael Bay has said that he wants to make a different trilogy that continues the story, only with different characters and perspectives. For this franchise to pick an unknown makes sense as opposed to an established star where they might have to pay him backend on top of the initial paydays. I say good for this kid as he steps foot on to American soil and finds himself ready to take on Michael Bay and the popularity that will surely be put upon him. Shia LeBeouf was always a great choice and is a great actor, so hopefully this kid will bring the same type of charisma that he did in the first trilogy. Either that or he’ll be doomed to bar fights, pissing of Spielberg, and trolling for Lars Von Trier porn movie opportunities. Regardless, looks like he’s in for the Michael Bay right so buckle up.

‘Archer’ Season 4 Clips to Help You Survive the Next Few Weeks

If I have to educate people on how awesome Archer is and that it’s one of the best (can I add underrated?) television shows on right now, then the world is lost to me. However, if you are a loyal reader to this site, you should know our love for Archer. If you’re not a loyal reader, then you really should be because we have great stuff and writers on this site that you’re missing out on. Anyways, we have a trailer plus several clips to help you get by through the day. So I’ll sit back and let you watch them because you really don’t need me to ramble on about how this show needs to get some sort of nomination from the Emmys or Golden Globes for writing alone. Just brilliant I say.

Added bonus before the clips, a media day thing that the ArcherFX Channel on YouTube threw in:

Archer Season 4 premieres Thursday January 17th, 2013 on FX at 10pm.

A Good Day to Die Hard: Trailers and Fun Stuff Brings Families Together…

So with a brand new year come a need for a grand way to kick it off in good old American fashion, and doesn’t get much more American than John McClane. So Valentine’s Day 2013 he’s going to Russia to show ’em how ‘Murica does it. It’s NFL Black Monday 2012 – Is Your Coach Having a Bad Day?

The 2012 NFL regular season has come to an end. For those that advance to the playoffs, congratulations, you get to continue on your march towards the grand prize: The Lombardi Trophy and the legendary status of being a Super Bowl winner. However, for the others, some of you get to pack your bags because the NFL sometimes stands for Not For Long.

Today is Black Monday, the first Monday after the end of the regular season and the day where the pink slips are handed out to coaches and general managers for failing to achieve the only goal in the NFL and of Charlie Sheen: Winning. Today was especially bloody as we saw long-term coaches get canned, as well as some of the newer ones that probably did not get the chance they deserved to see the improvement through.

Regardless, let’s recap to who is looking for new jobs this winter.

black monday 1

Andy Reid is probably the biggest, and yet least surprising name on the list. The Philadelphia Eagles dismissed the 14-year head coach today after a massively disappointing 4-12 season. Despite six division titles, five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance, the record that stands out is his last two years where he was 8-8 in 2011 after collecting superstars such as Jason Babin, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Dominque Rodgers- Cromartie. The defense was horrid and took even more of a hit after changing coordinators mid-season this year. He also was 1-4 in NFC Championship games and the Philly faithful won’t forget that. He knew this was coming and I’m sure he will welcome the change. It has been a rough few years as he had a myriad of family issues in Philadelphia that came to a head when his son was found dead at the Eagles training camp. He already is trying to inquire about coaching openings and building a staff so he should get right on his feet. I do think Philadelphia will miss him because his teams always makes runs at the division or the playoffs but after the last two years, it was time to move on.

black monday 2On the somewhat surprising front, Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears was also let go just as his team was eliminated after the Minnesota Vikings victory over the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. After nine years with the Bears, he made the Super Bowl once in 2006 losing to Peyton Manning’s Colts. Again, a solid coach with a good record (81-63 with the Bears) but the collapses of recent years and the offensive struggles did him in. Last year, the Bears started out 7-3 before going 1-5 the rest of the way and this year started 7-1 before going 3-5 the down the stretch and missing the playoffs again. The end of the year consistency has not been there and despite having Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, and Matt Forte the offense has ranked 2nd to last in yards per game since being hired as head coach. Something had to change, especially with the NFC North offenses being powered by Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and Adrian Peterson. They needed people to keep up with the vaunted defenses he fielded during his tenure. Again, he’ll definitely find work again, if anything as a D-Coordinator because he always employs great defenses dating back to his times with Tampa Bay and St. Louis.

Cleveland Browns new head coach Romeo Crennel answers questions at a news-conference, Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Berea, Ohio. Fresh from winning a third Super Bowl title as New England's defensive coordinator, Crennel was introduced Tuesday as coach of the Browns. (AP Photo/Tony Dejak)In Kansas City, after locking up the 1st pick yesterday after getting thrashed by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, Romeo Crennel was let go by the Chiefs. Again, no shock, but surprisingly GM Scott Pioli remains employed and most definitely, it’s the personnel that did in the Chiefs, not just the coaching. The reverse actually happened in New York when the Jets let go of GM Mike Tannenbaum and kept coach Rex Ryan. Again, personnel depth and the Tim Tebow trade probably destroyed Tannenbaum’s chances to redeem himself for 2013.

In San Diego, Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith finally got canned after constant disappointment in their organization. Watching Philip Rivers regress and the drafting of LT replacements go south made the decision easy for the Chargers brass. I still think A.J. Smith should’ve been fired years ago after the way he handled LaDainian Tomlinson’s exit from the Chargers, and getting rid of Drew Brees. Plus getting rid of Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season was pretty stupid, especially since the reason was because they had a ‘dysfunctional relationship’.

In other news, the Cleveland Browns got rid of coach Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert. New ownership took over so they just wanted their own people to take over and start fresh considering the ridicule the franchise gets nowadays. Shurmur has a great offensive mind so it will interesting where he ends up because of the job he did to help Sam Bradford (before he regressed). The Buffalo Bills also got rid of Chan Gailey after three losing seasons so that comes as no shock. With the Bills not making the playoffs since 1999, they carry the longest playoff drought in the league. The $100 million dollar signing of Mario Williams signing didn’t help the expectations as well so he had to go.

black monday 4

For now, the Arizona Cardinals end the red slip list with the firing of their coach Ken Whisenhunt and GM Rod Graves. Despite making the Super Bowl in 2009, the team could not recover from the Kurt Warner retirement and have been languishing in the bottom ever since despite having Larry Fitzgerald. The GM Graves didn’t help things by trading to get Kevin Kolb and handing him a $63 million dollar contract. Also getting destroyed 58-0 by the division rival Seattle Seahawks didn’t help keep the spotlight off their ineptitude.

So that’s the list so far, I guess we’ll see if we add more names to the list. Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers are probably on the clock as we speak…

Weekly New Release Report – 12/18/12

We got a bit of a big week this week because Christmas is coming up in just one week and we have tons of releases to cover. We get our Tuesday releases, then our Wednesday movie releases, then on Friday, ANOTHER set of new releases to hit up with some MORE movies! I’m honestly this excited because this is also the week I chose to go Christmas shopping because I like to procrastinate. The fact that there are a lot of good deals out there and a lot of the good DVDs are coming out means I’ll be out there in force. Plus, once I get sick of hanging out with giant groups of people, I can just go relax in the movie theater and catch a new release. With that, let’s go have a gander to see what’s coming out and get everyone prepared.

anna kendrick new releaseFirst let’s go over the major releases for Tuesday, December 18th. We have Pitch Perfect, which has garnered lots of positive reviews and admittedly I’m curious about. It helps that I’m in love with Anna Kendrick.

There is also the reboot of the Total Recall, which I reviewed as not bad, which carries an alternate ending and director’s cut as well. I’ll assume the director’s cut has more f-bombs and more three-boobed people because that’s what these “cuts” usually mean. We also get Clint Eastwood’s Trouble With the Curve to see how long he can scowl at Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams.

As for the major releases coming out on Friday December 21st, let’s not forget Resident Evil: Retribution. There’s also the Joseph Gordon-Levitt flick Premium Rush. As for television, the previous seasons of Californication and Shameless are out so everyone can catch up before the new seasons start up next month.

Pitch Perfect

Total Recall (2012)

Trouble With the Curve

Resident Evil: Retribution

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

Premium Rush

Killer Joe

Shameless: The Complete Second Season

Californication: The Fifth Season

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time (Triple Feature) [Blu-ray]

Out in Theaters:

On Wednesday December 19th, we get The Guilt Trip with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand. I don’t think it’ll do too well but I like the writer (Dan Fogelman, Crazy, Stupid, Love and Tangled) and it gave me an idea for a review that will hopefully be up by the end of the week. We also get the re-release of Monsters Inc. in 3D for the kiddies. Finding Nemo didn’t do well for the re-release, but we’ll see with the holiday season coming up and kids getting out of school how it goes. Also in New York and Los Angeles, we get the first screenings of Zero Dark Thirty for those lucky enough to check it out.

As for the movies coming out Friday December 21st, Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher movie comes out. A lot of people have been complaining about how he doesn’t look the part of a 6’5” enforcer but we shall see. We also get This is 40, the new Judd Apatow release, going wide that day as well. Also for those that have seen Cirque Du Soleil, you get a 3D movie experience on-screen with Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away arriving in theaters for your consumption. Also of note, if you’re lucky to be in the LA or NY market, you get The Impossible with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, which is something of a must see on my list.

With that, everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday shopping from us here at the New Release Report. Good luck in those lines or if you’re lazy like me, there’s still time to ship stuff from Amazon. That’s why the links are above to help you out without having to leave your chair and face the weird people out in the malls.

Weekly New Release Report – 12/11/12

It’s still the holiday season last time I checked, so it’s that time to figure out what we need to get the people in our life. More importantly, what cool stuff that they totally think of you and your awesome gift-giving abilities. Gone are the days where you can give people a coupon book for free hugs, we now have to figure out what truly will touch their holiday hearts. Well have no fear because we are here to the rescue and are letting you know what cool stuff is hitting the streets. Let’s look at some new release movies first, shall we?

We have a good crop of new releases out this week, obviously led by Ted. Hilarious movie that everyone should watch and pick up for sure. For the kiddies, you also have the latest Ice Age movie so you can impress them when you fire it up on Blu-Ray 3D and watch it slowly scramble their brains when they gather around the TV during the holidays. We also have the Bourne Legacy coming out on Blu-Ray, which I definitely didn’t enjoy but that doesn’t mean you might not. Futurama Volume 7 also hits the shelves, which is a great, great, underrated show that everyone should watch. Other notables would be Dick Tracy on Blu-Ray, the Criterion Collection version of The Following, the first Christopher Nolan flick, Girls – Season One, WWE: Raw – The Top 100 Moments, and Miami Connection, the cult movie that just came out for everyone to laugh and cry about how awesome the 80s truly were.

For music this week, we have the new Bruno Mars album Unorthodox Jukebox dropping, along with the new Glee Christmas CD, as well as the 3rd Green Day CD this year and the Music of Nashville album based on all the songs from show so far. The most important album you need to pick up of course is the soundtrack score to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey because Howard Shore if a flipping genius.

The Music Of Nashville Original Soundtrack

Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Vol. 3

Green Day – ¡TRÉ! [Explicit]

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

This Is 40 Soundtrack

Video Games:

As for video games this week, the two major ones are the Wii U version of 007 Legends and all the downloadable episodes of The Walking Dead that if you’re too lazy to download on XBL, you can now just pick it up at your local store and have at it. I also included Call of Duty: Black Ops II in the Amazon Carousel above but it’s a truly awesome game. I’d say challenge some of the Grizzly Bomb crew here but we don’t want to lose your respect because we are probably the worst team out there.

007 Legends – Wii U

The Walking Dead – XBOX 360

New in Theaters on Friday 12/14/2012:

Child, please. Of course it’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

That’s it for us today, hopefully this has helped inspire some gift ideas because Christmas is the time of getting a Blu-Ray so you can ignore freezing outside and just warm up by the fire with some Ted. Or Ice Age, depending how you want to expose kids to the vulgar nature of an awesome teddy bear. Your call.
