‘Eastbound and Down’ Teaser: Kenny Powers Rises From The Ashes for Season 4

The moment every single television viewer has been waiting for is almost here. A new teaser has been released to commemorate the spectacular return of America’s single greatest baseball player, role model, father figure, and lover of high class prostitutes. The 4th season of Eastbound and Down premieres on HBO in September, and the teasers show us… pretty much nothing.

Except for Kenny Motherf*cking Powers. Danny McBride reprises his fan favorite character in the newest season, which sees Kenny Powers apparently back in the big leagues. However, with the small amount the teasers have shown us we really can’t be sure of anything but more Kenny Powers greatness. Here is the first teaser that was released a while ago:

A.C.O.D. Trailer Has Jane Lynch As Adam Scott’s Not-a-Therapist

I’m a fangirl and while this is not news, I just felt like I should lead with that because the A.C.O.D. trailer is what this fangirl’s dreams are made of. Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Catherine O’Hara, Jane Lynch, Adam Pally, Richard Jenkins, Clark Duke, and even Ken Howard… when your cast makes someone think, “oh, yea Jessica Alba as well“, then you know things are in a good place.

Go ahead and enjoy the A.C.O.D. trailer below.

Please, please, please, don’t let this be a case of good trailer ending up being a crappy movie. That would be most unfortunate.

This is director Stu Zicherman’s first film behind the camera, but he was an executive producer on one of my favorite “canceled too soon” shows, Lights Out. Zicherman was also the writer of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, but let’s try to not hold that against him.

A.C.O.D. trailer

One does have to wonder if going with an acronym for a title was a great idea. Acronyms haven’t done well historically, and even more recently the incredibly poor performing R.I.P.D.. Here’s hoping that A.C.O.D. doesn’t fall victim to its own horrible title.

A.C.O.D. opens in theaters on October 4th.

Blue Caprice: New Film About The Beltway Sniper Attacks

Most know the story of the infamous Beltway Sniper Attacks, but here’s a refresher; During three weeks in October 2002, two men drove a blue Chevrolet Caprice through Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, stopping in public areas where they would then randomly shoot people from a sniper rifle positioned in the trunk of the car. Their toll was 10 killed and 3 injured. The perpetrators were an older gentleman, John Allen Muhammad, and a minor, Lee Boyd Malvo. That is the set up for the film, Blue Caprice, directed by Alexandre Moors, marking his debut feature film. Starring Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) as Muhammad, and another TV alum in his first starring feature film role, Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris) as Malvo. Rounding out the cast is Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy), and Leo Fitzpatrick (Kids). The trailer is great, showing that the film is more about the psyche of the men leading up to the events, than a sensationalizing of the shootings. It look spot on tonally for something of this nature. Check it out:

Premiering at Sundance, the buzz for this film was unanimously positive, most praising the lead performances. The thing that excites me the most has to be the point of view the film is told from. Instead of being investigators trying to stop these shootings, or something of that effect, we’re given the anti-hero story in the POV of the perpetrators, and their father/son relationship. This allows for a unique look into their minds that could give us a different perspective on the horrific events. The cinematography is also worth mentioning as the muted colors and grainy shots remind me a lot of the recent, based on a true story pic, Fruitvale Station, which had a very similar tone to what the trailers selling.

The film is due out September 13th in theaters, and September 17th on VOD.

Hercules Set Photos Instagrammed by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is giving it a good go at drumming up a bit of interest in his latest movie, Hercules: The Thracian Wars, by teasing set pictures and sneak peeks at his costume for his titular role as Hercules in Brett Ratner’s upcoming comic adaptation. His latest attempt comes courtesy of his Instagram feed and is a brief video giving as partial glimpse at his costume.

Much like his Fast and Furious 6 co-star Vin Diesel has done with the upcoming Pitch Black sequel, Johnson is using social media to drive interest and create a bit of viral marketing for the movie, which seems to have relatively slipped under the radar. Johnson has posted several pictures from the set of him in various stages of make up and showing off scars and set pieces. Notably, Johnson has not revealed his face in any of these pictures. It would be interesting to see if this is due to Johnson sporting prosthesis of some kind. Or just a big bushy beard.

Hercules

Hercules: The Thracian Wars is an adaptation of Radical Comics limited series of the same name, written by Steve Moore and art by Cris Bolsin. Hercules: The Thratian Wars take place after all the legendary stories, including the 12 labors, and see’s the demi-god in the company of five trusted warriors and has been described “a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist.” Apart from Hercules himself being the son of the God Zeus, of course.
Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.
The film is being produced by Paramount and MGM who will be hoping that their movie will do better than 2011’s Conan The Barbarian, another former Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle, that was a complete box office and critical failure. Paramount and MGM have placed the project in the hands of reliab[ly mediocre], if not groundbreaking, director Brett Ratner and scripted by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

As well as Dwayne Johnson as Hercules, the film also stars Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Hercules’ counselor and former warrior, Amphiarus, Aksel Hennie as Tydeus, Rufus Sewell (Dark City) as Autolycus, and Reece Ritchie as Iolaus. The villains of the piece will be Tobias Santelmann as the evil Rhesus along with John Hurt (Alien) as the King of Thrace. Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Joseph Fiennes also join the cast.
