LA Noir: New Show to Feature Thomas Jane, Simon Pegg, and Some Walking Dead Alum…

Frank Darabont’s new TV show adaptation for L.A.Noir is in the works, and according to The Hollywood Reporter Darabont is looking at Thomas Jane (Hung) for the role of mobster Bugsy Siegel for the TNT drama. Jane was not in the pilot for the show, as he was unavailable for filming.

Darabont has already picked up some pretty impressive cast members for L.A. Noir. In fact, some are from the Walking Dead! Former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal (Shane in TWD) has been cast as Joe Teague, an LAPD cop. Jeffrey DeMunn and Andrew Rothenberg are also going to be a part of the show.

In addition to the Walking Dead alumni, the show will also have Simon Pegg, one of my favorites! According to Indiewire.com Pegg is noted to be a guest star on the show, implying that his role wouldn’t continue for long if the show is picked up. Pegg does already have experience with filming about law enforcement…

Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) is also said to be a part of this crime drama. Ventimiglia will be playing a WWII buddy of Bernthal’s character who returns later as a lawyer. His character will also be a “fixer” for the mob.

The show is based on the book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City

The image of Los Angeles that exists in the minds of many here in the effete East only occasionally coincides with the reality. We sneer at it as Lala Land or pine for its beaches and vistas and endless summers, but don’t know that it’s a city of heavy manufacturing and movie-making — as well as a city that lies under the constant threat of devastating fires. We delight in the classic L.A. crime novels of Raymond Chandler and the contemporary ones of Michael Connelly, but we have only the vaguest understanding that the crime and corruption they depict are not aberrations but essential to the city’s character.

I am very excited for this show! With Frank Darabont involved, not to mention the amazing acting talent, this could be my next favorite show!

Cinemax’s Femme Fatales: Episode 204 – Extracurricular Activities

As the sophomore season’s 4th episode begins we bear witness to sexy college professor Kelsey Williams (Sandra McCoy) in her class room, alone, at night. She is watching a slide show of what appears to be turn of the century erotic images, and erotic she does feel. By the one minute mark of the episode she has begun pleasuring herself when she is abruptly interrupted (Boooo) by a suspicious looking Security Guard. As fate would have it said night watchman explains to the good professor that there was an attack on campus earlier, and though the young coed escaped, her attacker remains still un-apprehended. For what is surely her safety, he proceeds to relay the description to the attacker to Ms. Williams.

Cinemax’s Femme Fatales: 203 – Trophy Wife

Trophy Wife is the classic story of a rich housewife, her cheating husband, and the hitman she hires to widow her. In this case the hitman is a dirty ex-cop named Darby (Chris MulkeyFirst Blood!!!), and the housewife Veronica (Leilani Sarelle AKA Roxy from Basic Instinct) is very specific about how the job has to be done. The episode opens in a strip club, which is obviously the best place to pick up a hitman. I’ll file that away for future notice.

Misfits: Series 4 – Updates & New Cast Members!

First off, if you haven’t been watching E4’s Misfits, then I don’t like you as a person. You are probably no fun, you don’t enjoy British cussing, great characters or great stories. We already tried to turn you on to the show once which you can check out here. The first 2 series kicked my ass with humor, awkward moments, and awesome storytelling. Then news hit that Robert Sheehan (Nathan) would not be returning for the 3rd Series, which was upsetting.

Machete Kills: Starring ‘President Charlie Sheen’

So it’d seem that Charlie Sheen has temporarily gained enough wherewithal to admit he was pretty goddamn insane all of last year, and along with landing a new gig as the lead in FX’s Anger Management, has also gotten a role in Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to Machete.

And what a great president he’d be!

The basic outline of the plot for the sequel is pretty out there. It involves Machete being hired out by the US to find a bad arms dealer guy who plans to launch a weapon into space. Because Robert Rodriguez is an insane person, he’s decided to throw space weapons in a movie about a guy who uses knives as his primary weapon of choice. I know, I know, machetes aren’t knives, but bear with me.

So while the original Machete was over the top example of faux-grindhouse, this looks to up the ante in ways that’ll make the original probably seem downright subtle. In those terms, I think Charlie Sheen is a great casting choice. Who else but Charlie Sheen would give a presidential decree to hire out an insane knife wielding ex-cop Mexican for international arms espionage? Combine that with the returning cast of Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez, (Not a Lohan in sight, thank christ), and I think you’ve got the potential for a pretty great sequel here.

Now as long as Rodriguez is making real movies out of fake trailers, let’s get Werewolf Women Of The SS made already huh? Nicolas Cage as Fu-Manchu? BOX OFFICE DYNAMITE!
