Dorkly recently posted a list of 6 Ways that the Expanded Universe ruined Star Wars. The ‘Expanded Universe’ being anything other that the actual Star Wars movies, such as books, comics and video games. Granted, some of the things in this list were kinda stupid, even though I don’t think that they flat-out ruined Star Wars. It seems like Dorkly may have just not researched very well, but I, being a ridiculous Star Wars buff can help remedy that. I would definitely read their list here before you read the rest of my article. It will make more sense, trust me.
After last week the overwhelming assumption thus far is that Belko is the killer. In AMC’s latest poll, Belko was voted most likely with 39%, and Aunt Terry 2nd place with only 10%. Personally I don’t think Terry would’ve murdered her niece in such a brutal manner, but I guess people just don’t trust her. Maybe it’s because she’s still best known for playing a crack whore on The Shield…
At the end of last week’s episode we learned a little too late that Bennett Amhed was not to blame for the murder of Rosie Larsen. Stan and Belko had already grabbed him, and as the credits roll we see them beat Amhed savagely. And more than that, as Stan is kicking the suspect killer of his child, we see Belko punching a rock and looking quite guilty. Something isn’t right there. Not to say he’s the killer, just that something there is not right.
As this week’s episode we open on Bennett’s beaten body. Lying in the mud as Mitch tries desperately to reach her husband. The husband whom she blamed for not ‘handling’ the suspected killer sooner. Lucky for the Amhed family the teacher survived the attack, but Mitch must now live with knowing she sicked her husband on the wrong man. And upon learning he attacked what appears to be the wrong man, Stan does the right thing and turns himself into the authorities.
Our detectives however, now need a new suspect. Linden arrives at the residence of Darren Richmond and informs him that Amhed is not only innocent, but in critical condition at the hospital after the beating he received from Stan. This seems to be the perfect opportunity for Richmond to jump back into the race. The man who all along stood by Amhed and was crucified for it, can now use his integrity to re-establish his stand. And that’s just what he does. Using the media outside the hospital he launches an all out attack on not only the Mayor, but the cowardly City Council that helped to shut down his basketball center.
As Stan’s preliminary hearing for his crimes begins, Linden meets with a cabbie that picked up Rosie that night. Picked her up and took her home. The video from the cab shows Rosie getting out in front of the house, and someone inside. We see a light turn off in the house, a house that is supposed to be empty. Holder is convinced that the light was turned off by Belko.

Upon a visit to Belko’s house they find several pictures of the Larsen family pinned to the ceiling above his bed. With some further questioning Holder’s suspicion is confirmed, Belko was there the night of the murder. Though, despite this, and as I’ve thought all along, Belko doesn’t appear to be our killer. He is too scared of not being ‘part of the family’ to piss off Stan. He did however overhear a phone call she made, and he heard something that rang through to our Detectives – Adela. The same name from the note they found earlier.
Sarah returns home to find her fiancée Rick waiting at the door. Things there do not go well. The following morning she goes for a run and stumbles upon what could be a huge break in the case. A ship. A ship named Adela. In fact, a ship named Adela that passes the Wapi Eagle Casino. A Casino bearing the same logo as the key-chain in evidence.
So Linden has a new lead, Stan is in jail, and Mitch is searching the books for their missing life savings, a cold realization just heaped upon her already troubled life. Bennett remains in the Hospital and Richmond it would appear, at least for a moment, had met Rosie.
I have a feeling that the 40% of the vote Belko has now, is gonna drop. Myself, I don’t have a clue who the killer is at this point. Who do you think it is?
It seemed like the casting for the upcoming Oz movie was going well. We have James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Wiesz all playing characters in the movie which is set to be released in March of 2013. Now there is one more casting addition for the role of the Wizard’s (James Franco) assistant that will be filled by Scrubs star Zach Braff according to IGN. Sadly I am not a fan of Scrubs, and I find Zach Braff pretty annoying, but that is just my opinion. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who love him and are ecstatic about this news but I could just care less. I think the last movie I saw him in was The Ex with Jason Bateman and that was back in 2006.
Hopefully his part is so small that we don’t have to hear him talk too much. However that might be a bad thing for people who are actually fans of his. Are there any out there or do you dislike him as much as I do? Or maybe you have no idea who the hell Zach Braff is.
So after watching UFC 130 tonight, all I can say is, “wow!” If anybody out there predicted all of the fight outcomes correctly, my hats off to you! Now Let’s start from the first fight and briefly discuss what we saw and what we learned.
Brian Stann def. Jorge Santiago (knockout):
Coming into this fight I thought Santiago’s game plan was going to be pretty simple: take this fight to the ground and look for a submission. After all we all pretty much knew Stann was going to come in looking for a knockout like usual. Without a whole lot of experience with submissions, which is one of Santiago’s strongest assets, I expected to see Stann be taken to the mat fairly quickly in this fight. Instead we saw Santiago attempt to stand and strike with Brian Stann, which quickly led to Santiago receiving a flurry of punches on his back in the first round. After weathering the first round storm, Santiago then came into the second round looking to stand and strike again. This would quickly lead to a knockout victory by Brian Stann with that vicious left hook.
Up until last week, UFC 130 was looking like it possessed one of the most stacked fight cards for a UFC pay-per view in quite some time. However, with injuries plaguing both Frankie Edgar and Grey Maynard, the 3rd match between the two which was set for Edgar’s lightweight title will be put on hold for now, which will leave fight fans looking forward to a main event between Matt Hamill and Quintin “Rampage” Jackson instead. Though this will obviously not be a title fight, but the winner of this fight may very well be looking at a number one contender-ship for the light heavyweight title in the near future.
Quintin Jackson will enter the main event at UFC 130 with a 31-8 mixed martial arts record, with his last victory coming from what some would consider a controversial decision in his bout with Lyoto Machida last November at UFC 124. With perhaps the best slamming power in the division, and quick striking (14 knockouts), Quintin Jackson has been a force to be reckoned with his entire career as a mixed martial artist. Matt Hamill, who is also a bit of a knock out artist as well, will enter the fight with a 10-2 record, coming off of a 5 fight win streak against the likes of Tito Ortiz, Keith Jardine, and Jon Jones (disqualification), and can be far from counted out in this match up.
Mir will come into this fight with a professional MMA record of 14-5, while his opponent Roy Nelson comes in with a record of 15-5. When you break down the two fighting styles, I really believe we are given an interesting match up. Both fighters come in with a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Frank Mir is a submission expert, winning 8 of his 14 victories by way of this. Roy Nelson on the other hand possesses strong hands to compliment his Jiu-Jitsu skills winning 8 of his 15 victories by knockout. Despite there not being a title, or a number one contender-ship on the line either, both fighters still have much riding on this fight.
And I thought Piranhas in 3D were enough, now we get a shark? It’s a mystery to me why no one has ever tried to do a scary shark movie since Jaws, sure they could never hope to come close to the perfection that was Jaws, but something genuinely scary would have been good. Instead the closest thing we have had is Deep Blue Sea which was painfully mediocre, and a slew of terrible (Yet hilarious) made for SyFY movies such as Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, Blue Demon and Sharktopus.

From the director of two Final Destination movies and Snakes on a Plane, the plot of Shark Night 3D is very basic. A group of young adults go to a lake house that is located on a small island to party hard for the weekend, but little do they know is that the waters are inexplicably populated by a shark or sharks. Hmmm… must be a salt water lake. Gore and chaos ensue as they try to get off of the island. Check out the trailer below:
I know it looks like the generic ‘creature feature’ horror movie, and the story is ridiculous, but I actually have hope for this one to be genuinely creepy. I’ve always had an uneasy feeling being in water so deep I can’t see what’s below me, so seeing sharks in a lake where they aren’t supposed to be is kind of unsettling. Not that it could ever happen… right?
And thankfully they didn’t go the Piranha route and intentionally make it ridiculous with a bombardment of old washed up actors. The only recognizable actor I saw in the trailer was Joel David Moore from movies such as Avatar, Dodgeball and Grandma’s Boy and the TV show Bones.
So here’s to hoping that we get something scary out of Shark Night and not just another movie like Piranha that should have skipped the theater and hopped straight onto SyFy. I’m sensing something that will at least outdo Deep Blue Sea and their stupid smart sharks that looked like inflatable rubber pool toys.
