NBC’s Thursday Nights: Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, 30 Rock and Whitney

Thursday night on NBC has an amazing history of being home to some of the most popular comedies. From Cheers and The Cosby Show to Friends and Will and Grace. They had a few shaky years at the end of Friends, but they have slowly built back what was a respectable comedy lineup back on Thursday nights with Community, Parks and Recreation, the Office and 30 Rock. Unfortunately, all these shows haven’t hit their stride at the same time to build that viewership base and the ratings for these sometimes great shows has suffered.

Grizzly Spotlight: Donald Glover

I’m sure all of you have been checking in every week to see who is the latest to be featured as a Grizzly Girl, I know I have. But I figured why stop there? Now, that doesn’t mean I’m about to start showing you a bunch of pics of shirtless guys or anything, I’ll leave that up to the femme fatales on staff here at GB. But I do want to bring you some of the celebs or up and comers out there that deserve their time to shine. Which brings us to Grizzly Spotlight.

For the debut of Spotlight we’ll be showcasing Donald Glover. Comedian, Actor, Writer, Rapper, DJ, the list keeps going. You may recognize him from his stint on Community as Troy, or even further back with his part on the Derrick Comedy team. What you may not know is he was a staff writer for 30 Rock, as well as a rising Hip-Hop star known as ‘Childish Gambino’. We’ll cover all of this here.

The Muppets: Green With Envy

Here is a movie that totally snuck under the radar when the poster came out, because well…it looks like some shitty Rom-Com. I mean, better than the average Rom-Com based just on the presence of Jason Segal and Chris Cooper’s name, but still a chick flick. The movie title reads ‘Green With Envy’ and makes no mention what-so-ever of out beloved Muppets…

So, keeping true to form, once you watch the trailer, you realize that Jason Segal doesn’t really do a lot of shitty movies. The hard part is not turning the trailer off before the 0:51 mark…

So a new Muppet movie, and Jason Segal actually wrote it. That’s good news, and keeping with tradition, this one will also be filled to the brim with celebrity cameos that include Zach Galifianakis, Jack Black, Donald Glover, and Danny Trejo just to name a few.

For everyone else, you may remember when Disney acquired the rights to the characters back in 2004, but since had done very little with them, save a couple TV specials and some YouTube videos…

It’s nice to see them coming back to the big screen, and come November, I’ll be at the theater to see the newest addition to the Muppet Movie catalogue.
