Dexter: Season 6, Episode 2 – “Once Upon A Time” Review

The second episode of season six of Dexter “Once Upon a Time”, was basically a setup for the rest of the season. It was packed with delicious morsels of change. For instance, not only did Quinn propose to Deb Morgan, but SHE SAID NO! Since Quinn is my least favorite character, I didn’t want that kind of permanent tie into the show.

Also, little Harrison is pointing out Daddy’s little brown box. Dexter’s box for his blood slides has apparently been seen… by a two-year-old. Don’t worry… Dex got Harrison his own box for his toys. This is a sign, though, that he will be noticing every little thing Dexter does.

Deb Morgan is Homicide’s new Lieutenant! Although Batista was expecting the position, Matthews gave the job to Deb. LaGuerta is always finding a way to be shady or make Matthews dislike her, and, as Batista said in the episode, he always ends up paying for it.

It is unfortunate, because Angel Batista is one of the coolest characters on Dexter. He is realistic. He has tried picking up a hooker, screwed up his marriage, and got framed by Ms. “Pardon my tits”. Nevertheless, Deb is now leading the department. She is slowly but surely becoming my hero.

Dexter: Season 6 Premiere – “Those Kinds of Things” Review (SPOILERS)

Although it does not premiere until October 2, I just watched the first episode of the sixth season of Dexter…and it was fantastic.

The episode began by putting me in a panic. Dexter calls 911 saying he has been stabbed, resulting in his next two victims’ arrival. From the moment the episode began, I could not help but sigh with relief. Dexter Morgan, I have missed you.

This episode “Those Kinds of Things” introduced a new pair of evil-doers: Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Colin Hanks (The Good Guys). While not many details were given about what the duo is doing or why, I was pleased to see Hanks in the role of a creeper. It is very believable.

Comic-Con International ’11 – The Panels!

I have to say, I’ve covered Comic-Con before (by covered I mean read about and reported), and while it was always a great place to get news regarding the various superhero movies out there, I am a little floored by the sheer amount of news already out there. And it’s not even at the halfway point. Well, maybe the halfway point.

So what do I have for you today? Panels. A buttload of panels for movies, comics, TV, everything. We already told you about the Dexter panel and showed you the trailer, but here’s a few more, by few I mean a lot, and by a lot I mean settle in and get comfortable. I’ll try to throw some other stuff in here and there as well. I’ll start off with a show we’ve been following pretty heavily here on Grizzly Bomb.

Dexter: Season 6 Panel!

So as the San Diego Comic Con rages on, news on some of our favorite shows will start to come out, and Dexter is on that list.  Now we had already told you about Colin Hanks and Mos Def joining the cast, but I did not know till I watched the trailer that Battlestar Galactica-alum Edward James Olmos would be appearing as well.

And from Dexter GR, here is some footage from the Dexter panel:

A Very GB Father’s Day: Our Favorite TV Dads!

Here at Grizzly Bomb we wanted to do a little something for Father’s Day, and we’ve decided to share our favorite TV Dads, and what makes them great.

Brian Kronner – Dan Conner

TV Dads

Can you get more of a All-American Man’s Man of a father than Dan Conner? For more than 200 episodes John Goodman portrayed the father of 3 and husband to a wife, that at times was completely insufferable. This beer-swilling, football watching, handyman was more than just a comedic opposite to Roseanne, but the emotional anchor that grounded the show in reality. You know, at least until they won to lotto and killed him off and all. But he wasn’t the pansy-ass modern dads we see now, where every episode ends with him talking things out and teaching a valuable life lesson. Sure, we got that stuff too, but Dan also yelled and disciplined his kids. He fought with his wife and worked on his car. They went through the recession in the 80’s with the rest of us, and Dan even had to deal with real world problems. But he so passionately felt for, and defended his kids, he just felt real to me. And I grew up watching him. They say that The Godfather is the dream of the Mafia, while Goodfellas is the truer representation. So for me, if Ward Clever was the dream, Dan Conner was the truth.

DIRT ON DEXTER! – Season 6 to feature Colin Hanks & Mos Def

He is the blood spatter analyst we love to watch murder people. He stabs his way into his victims… and our hearts. Of course, I am talking about DEXTER! That’s right, our favorite serial killer-killer is coming back to Showtime this fall, and is bringing a famous Hollywood son into the mix.

Colin Hanks (Mad Men, The Good Guys), the son of Tom Hanks (Forest Gump, the guy who made BFFs with a Volleyball), is joining the cast of Dexter for Season 6. His character details were kept under tighter wraps than Dexter’s victims up until one website leaked some information. According to TV Somniac, Hanks will be playing Travis, Dexter’s main nemesis: a highly intelligent expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami.
