Game of Thrones Casting News Regarding Red Viper’s Paramour

Last week we announced that Oberyn Martell had been cast and the pieces are now continuing to fall into place. The latest Game of Thrones casting news is that Indira Varma has been cast to portray Ellaria Sand in the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones. Varma is the 3rd alumni of the HBO show Rome to have joined the cast so far, following Ciarán Hinds (Mance Rayder) and Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully) over.

The End of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia premieres it’s 9th season this fall on their new comedy channel FXX, September 4th at 10pm ET/PT. Then after season 10 next year, the gang will be saying “so long bitches” for good! In a not so stunning move Glenn Howerton has announced that the show doesn’t want to overstay it’s welcome so they’re going to end on their terms. Read more below from IGN:

“There’s a certain point where you wear out your welcome and we don’t want to do that,” the actor/writer/producer said. “We want to leave them wanting more. We spend a lot of time trying to find new lines to cross. We’re not trying to offend people or gross them out, but we’re looking to surprise them. I think we’re proud of what we’ve done so far, so it’s time to stop.”

I’m glad Howerton is saying it because in my opinion the show has become a bit stale, even though I’ll always love it. I long for the earlier seasons when all of the characters weren’t so over the top.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

But in the show’s defense the subsequent seasons have been pretty entertaining. From Kitten “Mittons” to Dance Marathons and Project Bad Ass to Thundergun Express, the show will definitely be missed. It is better for it to end before the fans decide to stop watching. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a great show to have leading the charge on the network’s newest efforts at gaining viewership with FXX. The network has triumphed time and again, and not only with comedies, but dramas like The Shield, Justified, Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck just to name a few.

Once It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia goes away, comedies such as Archer, Louie, The League and Wilfred will have to pick up the slack, which they are more than capable of doing. As the show reaches closer to it’s inevitable conclusion, what are everyone’s favorite episodes with so many to choose from?

You know Grizzly Bomb will be doing a top ten best episodes once the show has it’s series finale.

Jason Sudeikis Finally Confirms SNL Exit

Well it’s about time. Jason Sudekis has finally confirmed that this past season of SNL was his last.

In tonight’s episode of Late Night with David Letterman, Sudeikis confirms what all fans have assumed for months, his time in Studio 8H has come to a close.

It sucks that there won’t be a big send-off for the man who has become the “every man” of Saturday Night Live in recent years, but it seems right for the actor who excelled at the bewildered reaction to the rest of his cast members antics. Of course he was not without his own craziness as evidenced as one of his best Weekend Update characters, The Devil.

Now with the departure of Jason Sudeikis joining those of Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, and possibly Nasim Pedrad, the cast of SNL is going to look very different next year. Some featured players will move up to full cast (Kate McKinnon for sure) with new ones comes in, it’ll be interesting to see the announcements start rolling in come fall time.

Thanks for eight great seasons Jason Sudeikis!

Dexter: 8.04 – “Scar Tissue”

“Scar Tissue” began very strangely because suddenly with no explanation, Deb and Vogel have a relationship. I don’t really like that we didn’t get to see that part, but I understand that time is of the essence in this final season. Vogel is trying to get through to Deb, seemingly using tough love but she also could just be trying to push Deb over the edge by making her feel guilty. She seems very manipulative. Vogel also accidentally shows Dexter the notes she has been keeping on her activities with him, leading him to kick her out of his life!

In this episode, we also got to see the actual brain surgeon whose name is A.J. Yates. Apparently he was a patient of Vogel. She recommended that he get brain surgery to affect his behavior. Why the hell was he not the first person she thought of? Or, like I said last week, maybe she is controlling the brain surgeon too!

Deb is struggling with what Vogel described as making “the best of a difficult situation”. She said that she should have shot Dexter instead of LaGuerta. Vogel explains to her that Dexter doesn’t know any better but that Deb shot someone in cold blood even though she knew it was wrong.

Because of this struggle, we saw one of the most dramatic endings to a Dexter episode to date! Deb asks Dexter if Harry killed himself after she saw the tape from her father’s last session with Dr. Vogel. Dexter said yes and explained that Harry couldn’t handle what he created, meaning Deter. Deb told her brother that she knows how Harry felt but he only had it half right. SHE GRABBED THE STEERING WHEEL AND STEERED THE CAR WITH DEXTER AND HERSELF IN IT AND DROVE IT INTO THE LAKE! Holy sh*t! I was actually legitimately surprised. But in usual Deb fashion, after she was saved by a local man, she swam out and saved her brother.

There is so much going on right now in this show! Masuka just found out that he has a 20 year old daughter who has the same awesomely ridiculous laugh as him. He did get all disgustingly pervy with her before he knew who she was though… which was uncomfortable. But that’s just Masuka being Masuka.

Quinn and Jamie are fighting, but at least Jamie is naked for it this time!

And I know I said this last week but I feel compelled to say it again…. I will RIOT if Quinn is the one who finds Dexter out! I have been re-watching season 4 and that is when Quinn began to develop suspicions about Dexter as a person. He has always had a feeling about Dexter and in season 5, he even has Dexter followed by a private investigator named Liddy! Imagine what he may put together now that he may become sergeant and with Deb as messed up as she is! Yikes! So many questions…. I do not want to wait a week! However, since I must, join me back here next week to read my rants and raves!

Overall I would say this episode was about a 4. To be very clear, the 4 is mostly because of how amazing the ending was. The back story is great, but I am glad we are finally getting back to the action!

SDCC 2013: Game of Thrones Panel Discussion and Memoriam…

On Friday afternoon, July 19th,  in Hall H, some of the Game of Thrones cast gathered for a panel at the SDCC. Cast members Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, John Bradley, Kit Harington, Rose Leslie and Richard Madden, and author George R.R. Martin joined executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for the event.

The Game of Thrones panel began with an “In Memoriam” video played with Boys II Men’s “Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday”. Such a horribly sad video, remembering all of those amazing characters that we won’t get to see again.

Here is a video that shows the entire panel: (Special Guest star at about 14:40)

SDCC 2013: Arrow Season Two Sizzle Reel, Plus Highlights of the Comic-Con Panel!

Let’s start right off with the Arrow season two sizzle reel. Now, if you have not seen all of Arrow season one, you might want to skip this as it has a lot of spoilers in it. A lot, a lot.

So much action packed into so little time! Taken from footage of the season premiere, we get a good look at Summer Glau as Isabel Rochev.
Arrow Season Two Sizzle Reel

As exciting as that is, I think we all echo Roy Harper’s question to the mysterious blonde in a mask (Caity Lotz as not Black Canary), “Where the hell did you come from?” Of course this Arrow season two sizzle reel didn’t answer any big questions, like who exactly Caity Lotz’s character is, but we do see Oliver Queen make the beginnings of his move from “the Vigilante” to actually being called Arrow. As Marc Guggenheim said in this interview, they are moving from Hood Guy, to Arrow, to ultimately Green Arrow.

Same with Black Canary apparently. Laurel will eventually be Black Canary but she needs to start on that journey and Caity Lotz is there to help her begin.

Apparently everyone is moving along in their storylines, including Roy Harper and Deathstroke. During the Comic-Con panel, Colton Haynes referred to season two as Roy’s “island” and Andrew Kreisberg made a point of telling fans that those who are interested in if/how Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson becomes the Deathstroke, then they should make sure to watch season two.

The other big news from the panel is that although it seems as if Malcolm Merlyn met his end in the season finale of Arrow season one, perhaps he’s not as dead as we assumed. John Barrowman appeared on stage saying “I would be more than happy to come back into this family fold. And if I’m being invited back, it’s more than the 50th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’s’ ever done.”

As great as all that news is, two big guest spots were also announced.

Arrow season two sizzle reel

That’s right, Suicide Squad’s own Bronze Tiger is coming to Starling City! Or the island, his story hasn’t been revealed. Michael Jai White will play the martial artist sometime in season two. Given that they are announcing it this early, you’d have to imagine it’d be early in the season.

Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood in Arrow

Same goes for Kevin Alejandro, guest starring as a character named Sebastian Blood, aka Brother Blood. Longtime foe of the Teen Titans. It’s a little easier to see the martial arts fighting of Bronze Tiger making the leap to the Arrow-verse, but there will be some definite changes in the Brother Blood character to comply with the “no superpowers/metahumans” thing that they’ve committed to. But we’ve seen how Count Vertigo was able to be adapted so I’m not too worried about it.

So I think that about covers it. Laurel Lance is still going to be Black Canary. Caity Lotz is going to help her. Roy Harper and Slade Wilson both have changes in store for them. Oh yeah, Thea is taking over Oliver’s club, and Summer Glau’s Isabel Rochev is coming to town.

Can’t wait for October 9th when Arrow season two premieres!
