Dexter: Season 6, Episode 2 – “Once Upon A Time” Review

The second episode of season six of Dexter “Once Upon a Time”, was basically a setup for the rest of the season. It was packed with delicious morsels of change. For instance, not only did Quinn propose to Deb Morgan, but SHE SAID NO! Since Quinn is my least favorite character, I didn’t want that kind of permanent tie into the show.

Also, little Harrison is pointing out Daddy’s little brown box. Dexter’s box for his blood slides has apparently been seen… by a two-year-old. Don’t worry… Dex got Harrison his own box for his toys. This is a sign, though, that he will be noticing every little thing Dexter does.

Deb Morgan is Homicide’s new Lieutenant! Although Batista was expecting the position, Matthews gave the job to Deb. LaGuerta is always finding a way to be shady or make Matthews dislike her, and, as Batista said in the episode, he always ends up paying for it.

It is unfortunate, because Angel Batista is one of the coolest characters on Dexter. He is realistic. He has tried picking up a hooker, screwed up his marriage, and got framed by Ms. “Pardon my tits”. Nevertheless, Deb is now leading the department. She is slowly but surely becoming my hero.

The Walking Dead Season Two Updates!

As the air date rapidly approaches, AMC’s The Walking Dead season two is becoming one of the most anticipated shows of the fall. In my opinion, October 16 could NOT come fast enough!

First things first: The Walking Dead has a new head-honcho. Ex-executive producer and writer Frank Darabont has left the show, leaving Glen Mazzara as the new hefe, and Robert Kirkman remains the executive producer. Some thought that Darabont’s leaving might hurt the show, and there were a lot of rumors that budget cuts would also take away from the entertainment value. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, if the first two episodes of season two are any indication of the show’s success, the fans should not worry. THR says that the show will continue its authentic story-driven thrill and zombified horror.

The Walking Dead Season TwoSecond things second: The Walking Dead has websiodes online! The Walking Dead: Torn Apart – A six episode series is available now at AMC or on YouTube. The webisodes explore Hannah the bicycle girl, and her struggle through the apocalypse. (She is the torn apart zombie Rick Grimes discovered in halves during the first episode*)

The Walking Dead Season Two

Thirdly: There is a new trailer out for The Walking Dead Season Two in which they introduce a church. It looks as if some of the survivors–or all of them possibly–are beginning to lose faith. Also, some of them ponder slipping away from the pack. “Let’s split up” are usually someone’s last words in a horror film, so I really hope that does not happen.

Cuatro: The Walking Dead executive producer Marazza says that the majority of Season two will take place in Hershel’s Farm, a familiar location in the comics. He also said, according to MTV news, that to make this show work and keep it going, we have to assume the zombies are winning. I feel like that is pretty easy to do, considering how many survivors we know about versus how many zombies in hoards we have seen. Marazza also said he is dying to introduce the governor into the show, but that he was not a part of the Hershel storyline. It was not made clear whether he will be introduced into this season or not.

If all of that doesn’t make you excited for The Walking Dead Season Two, I don’t know what would. This looks like a dangerous, thrilling, and gory season on the horizon!

#25 – Countdown to Halloween: SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

The Silence of the Lambs is one of the greatest and most influential horror films of all time. Based on the 1988 novel by Thomas Harris, the movie was released in 1991.Not only did it shock and disturb audiences everywhere, but it set a new standard for horror movies. This was not just another gore-filled hack-and-slash. This is a complete mind-blowing thriller, and one of my favorite movies of all time.

South Park: Season 15, Episode 8 “Ass Burgers” Review

“I don’t want hamburgers coming out of MY butt!”

This episode was absolutely fantastic and hilarious. They addressed the big events of the previous episode, which I like. I am used to The Simpsons starting over every episode.

I am extraordinarily excited about the fact that they made fun of the word “Aspergers“. I have thought about that every time I heard it. Although it is nothing to make fun of… it really is.

In this episode, Stan is diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, as he continues seeing everything as shit. Stan goes to a group for Asperger’s patients, which is actually a group for cynics. They claim that everything really IS shit, and aliens are sending out brain waves to humans so that they think that everything is normal, ala They Live. During all of this, Cartman discovers that by putting hamburgers in his ass, he can make them irresistibly delicious, and starts a hamburger business.

The group of cynics gives Stan a glass of Jameson, and Stan sees the world as normal, and once again, thinks Adam Sandler is funny. (For the record, I love Adam Sandler.)

#29 – Countdown to Halloween: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS

After much consideration about what my favorite horror movie was, I came to the third installment of the Nightmare on Elm Street series: Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, given to us by Wes Craven in 1987. This movie begins with Kristen Parker (Patricia Arquette) putting together a model house with Popsicle sticks… the house of Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) who is haunting her dreams. The beginning was in fact… all a dream. It is a scary and fantastic way to begin a horror movie.

Dexter: Season 6 Premiere – “Those Kinds of Things” Review (SPOILERS)

Although it does not premiere until October 2, I just watched the first episode of the sixth season of Dexter…and it was fantastic.

The episode began by putting me in a panic. Dexter calls 911 saying he has been stabbed, resulting in his next two victims’ arrival. From the moment the episode began, I could not help but sigh with relief. Dexter Morgan, I have missed you.

This episode “Those Kinds of Things” introduced a new pair of evil-doers: Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Colin Hanks (The Good Guys). While not many details were given about what the duo is doing or why, I was pleased to see Hanks in the role of a creeper. It is very believable.
