This week’s Trailer Roundup features movies we’ve talked, as well as some we haven’t. Maybe you’ll see something that interests you…
LUCKY
Well, I’m not a big Colin Hanks fan (seriously – who is?) but this looks pretty watchable. Ari Graynor is his dream girl, and once he hits it big in the lotto, she agrees to marry him. She later finds out – he is a serial killer. And the winning ticket belonged to a victim…
George BluthJeffrey Tambor plays a detective investigating the disappearance of some of Hanks’ victims. I like dark comedy, and the early feedback on this is all positive. Also features Ann-Margret, Mimi Rogers, and Adam Harrington.
Release Date: July 15, 2011 (Limited – NY, LA)
COWBOYS AND ALIENS(Newest Trailer)
Cowboys & Aliens is directed by Jon Favreau(Iron Man) and the screenplay, based off a Graphic Novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, was adapted by Orci & Kurtzman(Star Trek). The movie stars Daniel Craig as a memory-challenged cowboy with a mysterious weapon, in the middle of an apparent Alien invasion. His love interest is the always stunning Olivia Wilde, and the rest of the cast is populated with familiar names and faces. Most notably Harrison Ford, but also featuring Sam Rockwell, Clancy Brown, and our friend Walton Goggins.
At the start of tonight’s episode, AMC’s Suspect Tracker currently has Darren Richmond as the most likely culprit at 39%.
Last week’s episode 11 dealt with Linden’s missing kid, and ended with Holder’s discovery of Rosie on the ATM camera. This week we begin with Linden ripping Jack’s father a new hole, Stan still in prison, and Belko losing his job. Also, as ground breaks for the Mayor’s new water front property they uncover a skull. An Indian skull. Looks like the Mayor’s re-election campaign is falling apart. People don’t take kindly to desecrating Indian burial grounds to put up condos and what not…
Spoilers Ahead>>>
While at the office Mitch hears a message from Stan’s old Mob Boss, assumes that has to do with why all the missing money from their savings, and figures maybe that’s what got Rosie killed. When she goes to see her husband through the glass, she tells him as much. He doesn’t bother to inform her about the new house he bought her as a surprise, but instead simply gets pissed and storms off back to his cell.
Mayor Adams pays a visit to Gwen to let her know that Darren isn’t the man she thinks he is, and gives her a package. The contents aren’t yet made clear. What is made clear however, is Tom Drexler’s intentions and expectations. Jamie visits Tom at ‘Beau Soleil’ and lets him know that he owns Darren once the election is won. And he does so right under the best swimming pool ever.
Linden and Holder also become acquainted with ‘Beau Soleil’ as they convene with Holder’s old partner. And it looks as though our girl Rosie may have been involved. When they attempt to talk to Terry they find her very uncooperative…
Jack’s dad shows up at the police station to apologize to Sarah and ask for another chance to be in the boy’s life. An opportunity to be the father he never has been. She tells him if he goes near Jack again she’ll have him arrested. That’s pretty harsh.
After further investigation, Rosie’s computer leads them to believe that it is Terry, not Rosie who is the escort. Makes sense why no one trusted her now as she was hiding something. It’s also makes sense why they cast an actress who’s most famous role was a hooker to play the aunt… Anyhow, this prompts another talk with Aunt Terry and the cops learn a little bit more. They head to “Pimp My Feet”, which is where the server for the escort service is housed. Their new suspect, a cyber-ghost name ‘Orpheus’, whom Holder believes to be Drexler. The cops set up a ‘date’ through the site and meet with a girl who went out with ‘Orpheus’ and feared for her life. Holder gets too aggressive though and she flies the coop.
As the episode comes to a close several things happen. Terry bails Stan out of jail, Linden sends an e-mail to the mystery man, and Gwen opens up the Mayor’s damning package. This is when Holder gets a call from the scarred escort. She tells him to come to the pay phone she’s calling from.
Expecting to be bailed out by his wife, Stan seems disappointed to instead find his Sister-In-Law downstairs. That’s the bummer man.
While this is happening Linden pays a visit to Darren Richmond. She wants to question him about his connection to Drexler. This is when, at the same time, Holder and Linden both learn who the real Orpheus is – Richmond.
Looks like my prediction is shaping up nicely…
Pretty solid episode overall, and especially the last 5 minutes, tension was built and I can’t wait for next week. That last sequence with Holder and Linden both figuring it out at the same time – excellent. 4/5 Bears.
Breaking Bad is one of the most well received shows on Television. Both by the critics and the ratings it receives, it is without a doubt a hit. The original season was only 7 episodes. It started in January of 2008 and ran into March of ’08. Then they brought the show back with a 13-episode second season in March of 2009. 12 months later, season 3 premieres with, what at that time, was record-setting ratings. Over 3 million people tuned in to see the show.
This Monday will mark 1 year since the 3rd season finale aired, and it’s been a long year, but the wait is finally almost over. After 13 months, on July 17th, season 4 will begin. Last week AMC released the first trailer…
Ok, so no new footage yet, but for BB fans this is enough to get excited about. Anyhow, just wanted to give everyone a heads up. We’ll be reviewing this one weekly once it starts up…
With all the news swirling around Green Lantern lately, it’s no surprise that DC and Warner Bros. animation want to get all they can out of him now. What with the new movie coming out, and all the major comic events he’s been the center of the last couple of years, it brings us to yesterday’s release of Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. An animated collection of stories, much like Batman: Gotham Knight, which was released in 2008, just prior to The Dark Knight.
The early feedback on the DVD has been pretty positive, and the movie features Grizzly Bomb Favorite Nathan Fillion as the voice of Hal Jordan. It’s rated PG-13 and runs 84 minutes long. Here is the trailer…
In addition to Fillion, Emerald Knights has some other familiar faces voices involved as well. First off we have Jason Isaacs(Batman: Under the Red Hood), who I deem to be a perfect choice for Sinestro. And while most people now probably think of him as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, to me he’ll always be ‘that dick from The Patriot‘. This is great for Sinestro, who is of course Hal’s nemesis.
Then for the Mad Men fans out there, Elisabeth Moss voices Arisia Rrab, who appears to have a pretty big role in this one…
In addition, also featured will be Kelly Hu (X2, Hawaii Five-O), Henry Rollins (Heat,Sons of Anarchy), and Rowdy Roddy Piper (They Live, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Rollins plays Kilowag, who is one of the most popular characters in the GL universe, while Pipper will be the villain Bolphunga, and Hu plays GL Laira.
The movie is now out on both DVD and Blu-Ray, and the Blu Ray gets you quite a bit more on it…

Sneak Peak: ‘Batman: Year One’ – Preview of DC Universe’s next animated original movie
Back in April we told you about the impending Animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. At that time all we had were some casting announcements and a few picture stills. What we have now however, is a whole lot more. Yesterday Warner Bros animation department released an “Official Sneak Peak”, which will appear on the upcoming Green Lantern: Emerald Knights DVD…
Well, that was awesome. Cranston I think will be great as Gordon, and Dusku and Sackhoff will garner no complaints from me, but while I like Ben McKenzie, after hearing his bat-voice, it’ll have to grow on me. Alex Rocco had me excited initially because he played Moe Green, but after this I just don’t hear Falcone when he talks. I hope I’m wrong. Regardless, I think this will be great, and I can’t wait to pick it up.
Batman: Year One is (accroding to IMDb) set to hit the shelves September 27th. So to hold you off till then, check out the video below. It’s from Comic Book Artist Will Sliney, who is most recently been working on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars comic book.
The 4th episode of Femme Fatales is their first real attempt at humor, and it wasn’t bad. As Speed Date begins there is a familiar sounding voice-over and a computer screen full of pictures. The voice is a man narrating his own online dating profile…
