“Are you ready for Freddy?” It would appear that everyone is. The offspring of a thousand maniacs is still up and about since his debut in 1984. He has had a similar cinematic arc to his old box office rival Jason Voorhees, complete with its highs and lows. He went from been a stone cold psycho killer to a comedian prankster killer in the blink of an eye, and even though we got tired of his antics, we still loved him. He has survived a post modern turn and a revamp and just barely escaped a run in with Jason Voorhees and Ashley Williams. He is a multi layered killer. But what is it about Freddy that we really like and why does he give us the willies so much?

‘Monster Roll’ is on a Roll
Monster movies have always been a firm favorite with movie goers worldwide, but with so much competition in the market, how do you get financing for your own monster movie? Well Dan Blank has created his own little mini movie to help showcase his ideas. Monster Roll is a six-minute movie about the perils of abusing the hospitality of the sea, and the consequences of this act. The only people who can save us from the problems we have caused are the sushi chiefs. They need to help us restore the pact between the sea and man.

Countdown to Halloween #13: Dracula
Bram Stoker gave us a gift in 1897. The gift was Dracula, a character very loosely based on the exploits of Vlad the Impaler, who was a dab hand at impaling people on spikes (yeah, he never got invited to many parties I’m guessing). From this one novel an industry was born, with films still being made today about ‘Count Alucard’ and actors such as Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi and Gary Oldman all having a crack at the role of the world’s most famous vampire.
Jurassic Park 4 Concept Art Revealed – It Is Freaky!
Both Blastr and Io9 have revealed concept art for the scrapped Jurassic Park 4 project, and let’s just say it is not what you would have expected. The basic plot line revolved around genetic experiments, where humans and dinosaurs have been mixed together to form dinohuman cross breeds. These new creatures are quite the clever sort and are able to think for themselves, as well as being able to fire weapons! This was all back in 2005, but with possibly a new movie on the cards, let’s look at the Jurassic Park that could have been.

Countdown to Halloween #20: Jason Voorhees
Strange how one of the most iconic characters in horror lore were never meant to be. In the original movie, Jason popped up as part of Mrs. Voorhees damaged brain, and then briefly at the very end. Somehow though, the supposed drown child grew up to adult hood and took up a new past time; slashing up camp councilors. It’s not till the third film that he actually grabbed his iconic hockey mask, but boy did things change then. He became a horror movie icon, with his mug splashed all over everything. Heck he even appeared on talk shows where he does not speak! After 8 movies though, people started to tire of machete wielding maniac and he disappeared for a few years when filmmakers sent him to Hell once and for all. Or at least until he popped up again a few years later during a trip into space. We were also shown the residents of Elm Street being used as cannon fodder during Jason’s brief tussle with rival icon Freddy Kruger. Most recently though the character was subject to a 2009 reboot which introduced him to a whole new generation. Why though does he still hold a spot in our hearts? Well let’s have a look…
