12 Monkeys Star Todd Stashwick Talks With Us About How To Make Season 3 Happen

From Former Geek Magazine Scribe, Nikki Griffin

I’ve spent all week reading articles about which shows are getting axed and which shows are getting picked up. For an avid sci-fi television fan, this time of year can be the most brutal. Networks just don’t seem to give good sci-fi a chance. Past shows like Jericho, Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles, Firefly, Dollhouse, and Flash Forward come to mind. Even this year, freshman drama, Limitless, is facing imminent cancellation. One thing that those sci-fi shows have in common is that they aired on broadcast television, as opposed to a cable network. What if I were to tell you that there is an amazing sci-fi show, currently on the air, that has the production value of a feature film, a legitimately talented cast of actors, rich characters, and a deep mythology rooted in a film with an established fan base?

There is. It’s called 12 Monkeys and it’s on the cable network Syfy.

27th Annual Motor City Comic Con This Weekend!

The Motor City Comic Con, now in its 27th year, kicks off today at 12:30 pm in Novi, Michigan.

I will be heading there tomorrow morning, it will be my fourth time attending since 2008, and I can attest that the show has gotten significantly larger each year. Starting in 1989, they reported about 2,500 people through the turnstiles. When I went in ’08 it was over 15,000, and last year they reported 50,000. The show has become a real event, and if you’re in the area, it’s well worth checking out.

Kevin Smith Wants Onomatopoeia on Arrow: I Am Not Alone!

Let’s go back in time, to a simpler era in the Arrow universe.

A time when the majority of the Queen family was still alive. When Thea was just an obnoxious high schooler (wait – did we ever see her leave high school/discuss college? She went from “teehee, I’m a rebel” to unpacking boxes at her brother’s bar.) Back in time to October of 2012 when, in an Arrow news piece, I said this:

Yoga Hosers Trailer: Kevin Smith is Getting Weirder, And So Are His Films

“Two teenage yoga enthusiasts team up with a legendary man-hunter to battle with an ancient evil presence that is threatening their major party plans.”

I worked a lot of years behind a video store counter, and if you take the words “yoga enthusiasts” out of the above description, it could describe several 1980s genre movies. However, times have changed, and attaching Kevin Smith, Johnny Depp and a slew of other recognizable names to a project like this has drawn the ire of a lot of critics. For some, fond memories of Clerks and Chasing Amy now seem a lifetime ago, and plenty of once loyal Smith-fanatics are jumping ship. This movie isn’t likely to stop that exodus.
