Multiple Promos for Gotham: 2.03 – The Last Laugh

The sophomore season of Gotham has started off pretty strong, the show shifting a larger focus onto the city’s villains. In doing so, they have again proved just how inept most of the GCPD really is. Arkham escapes, police murdered, and the good guys apparently powerless to stop it all.

On the flip side, Gordon is climbing the ranks, with Leslie and Bullock at his side. Bruce and Alfred have discovered the bat-cave,  and Lucius Fox has been brought into the fold. And Harvey Dent is sure to be an asset in the coming months. All that said, it really is about the villains now.

Countdown to Halloween: Horror Films of the Hollywood Pre-Code Era

Films made between 1930 to 1934 are collectively known as the Hollywood ‘Pre-Code’ era in film history. Today, we’ll take a closer look at what made these films, in particular, the slew of horror films, classics of the genre as we continue our Countdown to Halloween!

Quick history lesson: This era in American film was between the introduction of sound in the late 1920′s and the enforcement of the Hays Code (Motion Picture Production Code) in July of 1934. From 1930 to 1934, compliance with any Code was merely a verbal agreement; which in Hollywood means close to nothing. Therefore, Hollywood experimented further than it had before; showcasing the loosest of morals, and newfound freedom of expression.

Moon Knight Returns for Marvel’s “All-New, All-Different” Initiative

Following the latest fantastic run that featured creators like Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, Brian Wood, Greg Smallwood, Cullen Bunn, and Jordie Bellaire (to name a few), Moon Knight is set to be relaunched with a new creative team for Marvel’s “All-New, All-Different” rollout following the conclusion of Secret Wars.

Jessica Jones: NetFlix Releases New Trailers for Marvel Show

I like Jessica Jones. I enjoyed her intro in Marvel’s MAX imprint Alias #1, and subsequent appearances throughout the rest of the Marvel universe like the Young Avengers. And that’s unusual for me: I typically prefer my heroes to be super-heroic and part of team books like the X-Men. But Jones, a retired superhero more at home solo in dark alleys and chasing mysteries noir-style, appealed to my growing desire for more adult, contemporary stories outside of whom is dating whom in the superhero jet set (here’s glaring at you, Superman / Wonder Woman).
