Marvel Creates a New Breed of Superhero with Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur

I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t been pleased with Marvel’s comic lineup as of late.  Besides the wildly popular Secret Wars and A-Force titles, Marvel hasn’t been on the vanguard of evolved storytelling, and as a long time fan, that was disappointing to acknowledge.

That said,  Marvel announced their latest endeavor Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and I pretty much lost my sh*t!

Could Cyborg Be A Gamechanger for DC?

The Justice League aren’t my standard heroes of choice.  The roster boasts itself with Apex heroes; mighty, infallible heroic additions. But when Cyborg was introduced in The New 52 as a part of the new Justice League, I suddenly took interest in their adventures.  Since then we’ve seen the evolution of what could be one of comics’ most dynamic characters, and he’s finally received his own book.

Marvel’s Bold Push Forward Includes Room for Classic Spider-Man with ‘Spidey’

Listen up, true believers: looks like Marvel is bringing you 10 – 10! –Spider-Man-related titles. And the latest announced title, Spidey, shows that this “All-New, All-Different Marvel!” initiative is as interested in maintaining its classic past as it is in moving forward.

GB Celebrates Comic Week! Our Weekly Picks & New Reader Suggestions!

We Stand on Guard coverHave you been enjoying Comic Week over at The A.V. Club?  Here at the GB offices we wanted to celebrate comics in our own way, by sharing a few of our favorite series and recommending even more comics for you to read. 

Starting with myself, as a Canadian, I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about We Stand On Guard from Image Comics. The brand new series from Brian K. Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, Saga) and Steve Skroce (Amazing Spider-Man, Wachowski storyboard artist) is set in the year 2112 during a war between Canada and the USA. I know, you’re thinking about the John Candy film Canadian Bacon, but this is nothing like that.
