GI Joe: Retaliation – Redemption for ‘Rise of Cobra’?

Ok, so I think we can all agree that GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra was a horse shit movie, and this is a fact that apparently was not lost on the filmmakers. They took the opportunity to create a sequel and immediately killed off everyone from the first movie – Brilliant. Cut ties with that dog shit. They traded out Dennis Quaid for Bruce Willis – win. Replace Marlon Wayans with The Rock? Super win. Then you add in pieces like Boyd Crowder, The Punisher, and my girl Adrianne Palicki – I’m actually excited for the sequel to a movie I almost walked out on.

Adrianne Palicki - GI Joe Retaliation

Here is the official synopsis and new images for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, courtesy of Stark Industries:

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe(R) characters, the film is scheduled to be released on June 29,2012.

In addition to several more pictures (Below), and the trailer we already showed you, there is also a new trailer after the jump…

Movie looks pretty entertaining. Willis will be his usual wise cracking badass, and we’re sure to see Snake Eyes kicking some ass, and you can even argue that it is an upgrade at director with Jon M. Chu replacing Stephen Sommers. And seriously, how often can you can the Director of Step Up 3 and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never is an upgrade over anyone? Well that is how much I despise Sommers, who is constantly handed awesome projects and consistently churns out mediocre films.

Anyhow, here are some more pictures from the movie, collected from around the web…

And now, just for fun, here are some important lessons from the Joes…

Simon Pegg Has a New Movie! I Have No Clue What It’s About.

Yep, that happened. Simon Pegg has a new movie out and at first, I feel like this was some YouTube random trailer made from some fanboys they made with Final Cut. And I’m not saying this is a knock on the film itself but it’s…I don’t…what the hell is going on?

The movie is called A Fantastic Fear of Everything and Simon Pegg (who’s apparently fearing a barber and proper hygiene in this movie as well) is an crime novelist that cannot escape his past as a children’s author. I assume his demons are personified by this creepy rodent creature that keeps popping up in the trailer. So I assume he must go out into the world, and in a very british humor type of way, dick around, meet a girl, clean himself, find out she probably has some sort of weird idiosyncratic thing that she’s been hiding from the world. After all, there’s no such thing has a hot girl that falls for the loser (movies have totally ruined my perception on reality, DAMN YOU), but they accept each other’s flaws and live happily ever after in a flat on London with his insecurity just chilling on the couch, having tea and crumpets or whatever stereotypical food you want to substitute in there. I feel like I come off skeptical and cynical of the prospects of this movie. Does that show? I blame the British ironic humor that this trailer subjected me to. Boom. Deal with it.

Note, I like Simon Pegg, I think he’s brilliant and I’m glad he stepped away from whatever Mission-Trek-TinTin movie he has been working on. Although if Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox show up in this movie, we all should just walk away.

“God Bless America”- My Favorite Movie Without Even Seeing It

God Bless America stars Mad Men actor Joel Murray (brother of hilarious Bill Murray) as Frank, a terminally ill man who is fed up with the awful American douche bags. His accomplice (because he can’t get rid of all the Kardashians and Jersy Shore cast members by himself) is a 16-year-old girl named Roxy.

Check out the trailers and a clip…

Random Clip:

So far, by looking at the trailers and the clip, this movie is long overdue. In the world of reality TV shows, distracted and disrespectful adults, and everyone’s blind sense of entitlement, America needs justice. I cannot tell you how many times I have been in the middle of a face-to-face conversation with a friend, and they pick up their phone to answer a text message. I have been brought to physical illness by shows like “16 & Pregnant” and “My Super Sweet 16”. I cannot wait to see this movie.

God Bless America, written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait [Ed. – Yeah, we didn’t know he was still alive either] will be playing in theaters May 31. See it. And if you don’t like what he is doing in the movie, that means you are one of the jerks he would be killing.

LOOPER Trailer: Time Travel & Self Loathing

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing a young Bruce Willis. Wouldn’t have called that one, but if it works, maybe that’s the way they should’ve gone for John McClane Jr

The movie has already been compared to 12 Monkeys, which, if an apt comparison, basically means it will hurt your head. But in the end, 12 Monkeys was excellent. Looper tells the story of hitman living in the past cleaning up problems the mob sends him by means time travel. That is until they send back an older version of him to be killed. Trippy.

This is something special, it’s called an ‘original idea’ and they assembled quite the cast. Aside from JGL and Willis, they’ve also got the beautiful and ultra talented Emily Blunt, who will no doubt end up the focus of desire for out ill-fated hero. Also seen in the trailer is veteran actor and Michigan Native Jeff Daniels, who has worked with Levitt before in the movie The Lookout. Looper will also feature one of my favorite actors over the last few years – Garret Dillahunt, who I first remember from his role on Deadwood, went on to appear in The 4400, Damages, and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. He was also in films like No Country for Old Men, Winter’s Bone, and The Road, and he is now the scene stealing star of Fox’s Raising Hope.

Japanese Trailer for ‘THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN’

So, sometimes in the haze of all the hype surrounding The Avengers, Marvel is also putting out another movie this year that looks pretty solid – Ghost Rider 2 The Amazing Spider-Man. And I’m not just saying that because Dennis Leary is playing Gwen Stacy’s dad. After the disaster that was Spiderman 3, I’m glad they didn’t wait too long to reboot things and get that taste out of my mouth.

Anyway, much like with The Avengers, the Japanese trailer gives us some previously unseen footage, and had got me a bit more pumped for that movie than I was yesterday. Anyhow, without further ado, here it is…

Red Band Trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’!

Chances are if you are a 20-something fun individual you have at one point or another enjoyed a good session of Family Guy. If you know Family Guy then I would wager your favorite characters are either Peter, Brian, or Stewie. So you will probably be pretty excited to hear that Seth MacFarlane’s new film Ted finally has a trailer out, which is Red band. That means NSFW, people.
